Sridar Camera Club – Sports Photography Workshop Notes ( By Ganesh Ramalingam)

Weather playing the spoilsport by canceling the game, despite our camera club members had a pleasant session with Mr.Sridar Elumalai with lots of information to be summarized,

– We were given a basic understanding of the camera settings like Aperture Priority mode and Shutter Priority mode which plays a vital role creating some of the best sports photographs

– We were taught to adjust the ISO according to the needed shutter speed which is more than 1/500th of a sec, the set maximum aperture value of 4 and were given a live example to be captured which we felt was very useful to understand

– We were given an idea of using Aperture compensation to capture fast moving active objects

– We were taught to track and shoot a moving object at the right time at the right frame with live examples

– We also discussed the single point focus, framing, and composition

– On the major part, Mr.Sridar Elumalai discussed with us the scope of Sports Photography, how an image is being taken, how important is to capture an image at the prescribed way to stay live in the industry and how the industry is valuing an image.

Even though what was planned failed due to rain, we had a very informative and practical session to understand the basics of Sports Photography, We Thank Mr.Sridar Elumalai for the time, effort and presence of mind to educate us with the limited resources he had
